I think it cannot hurt to meet with a licensed investigator in your state and discuss what they might do for you. I would also advise you to discuss this with your attorney. In the meantime, there is a website, www.nolo.org which has a number of resources for you that are affordable. You must be hired by a licensed PI and work those 6,000 hours on staff or the hours do not go towards your fulfilling your requirement. Check craigslist under jobs for private investigator in your city. After a cursory check, I found that there are a number of firms hiring at the moment especially on the East coast. We all make mistakes but at least you handled the aftermath with grace and dignity, as Jess alluded to (no slapping back, swearing at her, etc.). I'm glad to see chivalry is alive and well. I loved Ericka's response too. She seems like such a classy young lady. Don't feel too badly about walking away from your first encounter with a red cheek and bruised ego.
